Fox News announced on Monday that they were parting ways with Tucker Carlson, which many conservatives found cause to celebrate. Brian Kilmeade thanked Carlson as being “an incredible friend”.
Megyn Kelly called Meagan Johnson’s dismissal a ‘terrible move,’ as well as criticizing NBC for settling Dominion Voting Systems’ lawsuit against them.
Tucker Carlson’s Phone Lights Up With Well Wishes
After his termination, locals in the small town where the polarizing conservative host spent his summers showered him with support. They often stopped by his studio on Main Street to express their best wishes – as did visitors traveling across country to visit him there.
Carlson has become a source of controversy since posting a sarcastic tweet criticizing a video showing three white men beating up an “Antifa kid.” While Carlson apologized for his tweet, his remarks regarding an Antifa attack remain.
Carlson’s private texts were revealed in a Dominion lawsuit that also revealed discussions among Fox News hosts like Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, where these top opinion hosts privately disparaged Chris Wallace while also suggesting that their early prediction that Biden would win Arizona could soon be disproved by an unexpected wave of legal evidence similar to a “kraken”.
MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes Wins Time Slot
MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes has defeated Fox News Tonight and Anderson Cooper 360 for the 8pm time slot in a ratings battle, taking victory only days after Tucker Carlson was fired from Fox.
Host of this show, and editor-at-large of The Nation magazine, John Paul Stevens used to be his clerk before becoming editor-at-large of The Nation in 1983. Additionally, he has published two New York Times bestselling books: A Colony in a Nation” and Twilight of Elites.”
Fox pulled 1.33 million viewers for Brian Kilmeade’s replacement show hosted in Tucker Carlson’s former time slot on Wednesday night, placing it well behind MSNBC but falling well short of ABC or CBS in viewership numbers this week.
Paris Hilton Promotes Child Abuse Act
Paris Hilton has taken an active role in fighting abuse at youth residential facilities. She joined lawmakers and advocates on Capitol Hill Thursday to back a bill intended to increase scrutiny at schools like those she resided at as a child.
She claims she spent 11 months as a teenager at Utah’s Provo Canyon School where staffers physically and emotionally abused her, which she shared in a 2020 documentary called This is Paris.
The Accountability for Congregate Care Act would increase oversight, allow children living in these facilities to contact their families, and ensure they have access to clean drinking water and nutritious meals. Khanna and Merkley sponsored it at Hilton’s event on Thursday.
Fox News strives to go beyond Washington’s political noise by speaking directly with unexpected voices and those directly affected by today’s headlines, providing stories that capture America’s spirit.
Joe Biden Calls for Assault Weapons Ban
Following last week’s mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, President Joe Biden called for stricter gun laws. To curb gun violence and reduce gun deaths further, he proposed expanding background checks, closing loopholes such as those allowing domestic abusers to purchase guns legally, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and banning assault weapons altogether.
House Republicans oppose such measures vigorously; however, 10 Republican senators joined every Democrat in passing new gun control legislation last month that tightened background checks and expanded them for young buyers, while making it easier for law enforcement to remove firearms from people who pose threats.
Fox News has long maintained that their news division operates separately from their talk shows and adheres to journalistic standards; yet these revelations threaten Baier’s standing and undermine Fox’s efforts at being taken seriously as an outlet.
